A little about me
Hi all, I'm Alan, a Wedding photographer based in Essex, UK. Although I have an 'about me' page on my website, I thought I would spend some time writing a little more about me. Writing blogs has never been my thing, I'd much rather be taking photos, editing them and getting them delivered to my clients. When I'm not shooting weddings, I enjoy spending time with my wife and dog....or playing golf (badly!)
My wife and I got married in 2022 at Blake Hall in Ongar, Essex. When I say it was the best day of my life, I'm not exaggerating. The team at Blake Hall were incredible, helped the day run smoothly and nothing was too much. The two barns and the accommodation gave us everything we wanted and more. We wanted a relaxed atmosphere, with picturesque grounds and this venue gave us exactly that.

I started wedding photography because there's nothing better than looking back on the best day of your life, whenever you want and I love helping create those memories for others.
When you book me for your wedding photography, you'll be getting someone who is relaxed and prefers to capture the day as it unfolds. I'm not one for over posing my couples and when the time comes for the bride and groom portraits, we'll go for a walk, pick some nice spots for you to have some time away from the hustle and bustle of your day and I'll capture moments of the two of you reflecting on how amazing your day has been so far.
Depending on the timings of your wedding day, I will arrive nice and early and start by capturing those getting ready shots. I will usually start by popping in to see the girls, get some detail shots and pictures of hair and make up. Once I have captured all the girls having fun, I will see the gents and capture their getting ready shots too. I'll then head back over to the girls and finish photographing the reminder of their morning.
I'll make sure I get to your ceremony before you do and will begin getting candid shots of your guests arriving. Then the moment you've been waiting for, walking down the aisle! The good news is, my cameras can capture up to 20 frames per second, so I won't miss a moment. I'll hand pick the very best of all those images and you'll be left with photos filled with happy memories.
Usually, the day will then seamlessly move in to spending quality time with your family and friends, having a few drinks and everyone will want to congratulate you and spend a few moments with you. I'll be there, in the background capturing those moments as they happen. If you would like some family photos, now is the perfect time to get these done too.
Once you're having your wedding breakfast, I'll probably stop shooting for a short while, let's face it, no one wants to see photos of themselves shovelling food into their face! However, as soon as everyone is done, the cameras come back out and I'll float around getting more candid shots and reactions to speeches.
Once the food is done, speeches are done and cake cutting is done, then comes the first dance!
Now for the best part, you can let your hair down, get your dancing shoes on and let the drinks flow! The evening is my favourite part of the day - seeing everyone unwind and party. I'll be there to help document the parts you may not remember the next morning! Looking back and seeing everyone having fun at your wedding day will put smiles on your faces.
